Understanding IPv4 subnetting
A CIDR prefix identifies how many of the 32 IPv4 bits belong to the network. A /24 subnet contains 256 addresses, typically 254 usable host addresses.
Special cases
A /31 can be used for point-to-point links, and a /32 identifies a single address. A /0 represents the entire IPv4 address space.
